Senior or Lead DevOps Engineer
Office hybrid in McLean, VA, Bellevue, WA or San Francisco, CA
Our Technology, Marketing & Products Engineering team is tasked with innovating and maintaining a substantial distributed systems engineering platform that ships hundreds of features to production for tens of millions of users across all industries every day. Our users count on our platform to be highly reliable, lightning fast, supremely secure, and to preserve all of their customizations and integrations every time we ship.
Your Impact:
- You'll brainstorm with Product Owners and Engineers on your team and organization to conceptualize and build new features for our large (and growing!) user base.
- You’ll produce high-quality results by contributing heavily to team projects that have a significant impact on the business.
- You’ll actively own team features or systems and define their long-term health, while also improving the health of surrounding systems.
- You’ll improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
- You’ll demonstrate a sense of autonomy for ownership of your areas and proactively take accountability for progress forward.
- You’ll create and maintain detailed documentation.
- You’ll participate in the team’s on-call rotation to address sophisticated problems in real time and keep services operational and highly available.
- You’ll design, develop, deploy, and enhance automation to reliably manage the observability platform infrastructure.
- You’ll code review, mentor junior engineers, and provide technical guidance to the team (depending on the seniority level).
Requirements:
- A related technical degree required.
- 5+ years of professional development experience and capable of developing in a Cloud-based environment and implementing DevOps best practices.
- 3+ years deploying distributed apps with containers (Docker) & orchestration (Kubernetes, EKS, GKE).
- 3+ years of proven track record working within and building on public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- 3+ years of Linux system engineering experience.
- 5+ years of working experience in programming languages (Java, Python, Golang).
- 3+ years experience with Maven/Gradle builds.
- 3+ years experience deploying with CI/CD orchestration services (Jenkins, Spinnaker).
- Experience with networking concepts and components as implemented in IaaS (i.e. VPC, TGW, route tables, security groups, etc.).
- A continuous learner and a critical thinker.
- Excellent verbal communication and technical documentation skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Cloudwatch, Zabbix etc.
- Experience with Log Management and Analytics tools such as Splunk, Loki, Tableau, Grafana.
- Experience in open-source technologies like HBase, Hadoop, Kafka, Spark, Presto, Hive, Airflow.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational and non-relational databases (Postgres/Oracle/Redshift/Mongo).
- Experience providing Production Operations support in a 7x24x365 environment.
Compensation:
For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $151,800 to $243,100.
For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $165,600 to $265,200.
Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
