The Role We Want You For

As a Senior Systems Engineer in the IT Infrastructure Services team, you will be responsible for implementing, administering, and maintaining enterprise technologies, with a key focus on our M365 environment. You will drive process automation initiatives and contribute to building the foundation for future infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and cloud engineering projects at Clayco. The ideal candidate will embrace an Automation First mindset, including mentoring other team members and assisting with the development of automation and DevOps practices within the team using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Github. This position requires taking a lead role on projects and following through to completion.

The Specifics of the Role

  • Implement, administer, and support cloud platform technologies and services such as Azure AD, Azure IaaS, MS Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Intune.
  • Manage and maintain a Microsoft Windows Server enterprise environment in a multi-site configuration (Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, and Certificate Services).
  • Assist with building and continuously improving automation and DevOps practices, collaborating with team members to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Automate infrastructure deployment and management using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Github to optimize efficiency and reduce manual workloads.
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure accuracy of enterprise infrastructure documentation to support operational consistency and knowledge sharing.
  • Perform routine system maintenance and updates, ensuring minimal disruption and optimal performance.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices for enterprise infrastructure, including but not limited to IAM policies, network security, data encryption, and access controls.
  • Implement and adhere to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices to ensure system availability, performance, and reliability.
  • Coordinate with business units to understand functional requirements and ensure systems are scalable, stable, and aligned with business needs.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure service issues, providing tier 3 support to Service Delivery and Field Support teams as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience designing and implementing IT infrastructure solutions, with specific focus on M365 administration, process automation, and cloud environments (Azure preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues while providing excellent customer service.
  • Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices and platform engineering concepts
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking standards and best practices, with experience diagnosing complex network, security, and systems issues using tools such as Wireshark.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent tools for infrastructure deployment and management.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles (infrastructure design, microservices, containers, and IaC), with experience in implementing and maintaining security best practices, compliance frameworks, and cloud-native security solutions preferred.
