The Police Department is currently recruiting for a Code Compliance Officer. The main focus of this position is to respond to and resolve a wide variety of citizen and City personnel complaints of a non-emergency nature while performing ordinance enforcement. These types of complaints include neighborhood disputes, code violations, identifying and ticketing abandoned vehicles, trespassing complaints, graffiti abatement, animal related complaints, assisting police officers with traffic crashes, and other calls for service.

General Statement of Duties
The principal function of an employee in this class performs a wide range of duties in code enforcement, community engagement and policing, and field operations support. The principal duties of this class are performed in a police department and in an outdoors environment with exposure to varying weather conditions and possible exposure to physical hazards. Normal working hours will include being assigned to any one of several shifts: day shift, afternoon shift, mid shift, weekdays or weekends. Shifts and days off may rotate based on operational need. This is a non-exempt position and is subject to the terms and conditions of a collective bargaining agreement.

Acceptable Experience and Training
High School diploma or GED and 3 years experience working in public service, law enforcement environment and customer service; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
• Valid Driver's License and safe driving record;
• Ability to obtain Law Enforcement Data Systems (LEDS) certification within sixty days of hire;
• Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation.
