Each day, we make fudge and caramel swirls, cookie dough, brownies and more. We ship to business customers across the US and Canada, spreading deliciousness nationwide.

Summary

The Director, Sales role holds full accountability for leading and directing all sales strategies and execution for Denali Ingredients. The role will drive the development and execution for the commercial strategy and will be accountable for delivering sustainable growth to the business with new and existing customers, working with a team of sales professionals.

The role will work collaboratively with marketing, customer collaboration, and R&D to bring innovation and solutions to customers.

Requirements

  1. Lead and manage a team of account managers with commercial responsibility and leadership across a defined customer base in North America.
  2. Commercial P&L ownership and delivery against key performance measures with Denali Ingredients full potential plan.
  3. Create an empowering and engaging environment that attracts and retains the best talent while enabling them to perform and develop.
  4. Deliver a pipeline of sustainable growth through a deep understanding of customers and their business strategies, their functional and technical requirements, and business review process that drives customer intimacy.
  5. Develop and execute commercial strategies through strong account planning.
  6. Proactive focus of pipeline development and execution that builds margin appropriate project pipeline for growth platforms.
  7. Maintain an external customer preference with a strong knowledge of customer needs and preferences along with market trends.
  8. Focus on connecting new relationships to build into new and emerging companies in the targeted categories as determined by strategic planning.
  9. Ensure resources and actions are allocated with the correct urgency to address customer-based issues, including competitive threats, product and service complaints and information concerns.
  10. Deep knowledge and understanding of the dairy industry network and partnerships (co-packers, foodservice, direct to retail, private label) to drive business directly and indirectly across all routes to market.
  11. Ownership of annual sales budget targets.
  12. Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Education And/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in with a preference in Business, Communications, Food Science, Chemistry, or related field. MBA desirable.
  • 10 plus years progressively responsible experience in related sales, technical, or R&D roles within a food company.
  • Experience in B2B sales is preferred.
  • Experience in the dairy industry is preferred.
  • 3 – 5 years of people management experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to effectively communicate with customers and all levels of the business.
  • Ability to be persuasive and assertive while also being collaborative.
  • Ability to lead and influence decisions to drive business goals and make complex decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills, interpersonal and leadership skills.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write/query reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence.
  • Abilities in Microsoft suite (Power Point, Excel, Word, Publisher, Access).

Reasoning Ability

  • Initiative and planning skills and abilities.
  • Self-Motivated, resourceful, creative, teachable.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to work and assist in developing and managing budgets.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage and develop staff, currently five (5).
