Reporting to the Associate Director, Membership and Annual Giving, the Manager, Annual Giving, is responsible for the Director’s Circle, a mid-level giving program for the Academy Museum, generating membership gifts between $5,000 and $25,000 annually. In coordination with the Associate Director, the Manager will oversee the strategy to increase and retain membership and will maintain a sophisticated and nuanced understanding of donors’ individual interests, connections, and relationships with the Museum to advance successful engagement, cultivation, and stewardship strategies. This person will drive growth and help to sustain the long-term stability of the Academy Museum by retaining and expanding the Director’s Circle community of annual donors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop cultivation and stewardship strategy for Director’s Circle members and donors including benefits, engagement, acknowledgment, and event invitations.
  • Plan and execute the creation of solicitation materials and stewardship projects, including coordinating direct mail campaigns, writing notes and emails, and developing ongoing communications with individuals.
  • Manage a detailed schedule of direct marketing activities, including copywriting, design, production, mailing, and list selection and data segmentation.
  • Work with the broader Individual Giving team to strategize recognition, stewardship, and upgrades across all member levels.
  • Act as a liaison with other departments (communications, curatorial, operations, events, etc.) to effectively execute all activities related to Director's Circle program.
  • Analyze performance of the Director's Circle campaigns to refine the segmentation and communications strategy, track ROI, and perform data analysis to create a donor model for better targeting and solicitation.
  • Ensure all transactions related to Director's Circle have been correctly entered and are accurately tracked and managed in the CRM.
  • Work closely with Associate Director on ideation, execution, reporting, and data quality on all acquisition, renewal, and upgrade campaigns.
  • Develop a productive prospect pipeline and upgrade strategy, track progress on donor fundraising strategies including renewal campaigns, upgrades, and new member acquisition and develop and maintain status reports for Advancement leadership.
  • Work with Membership and Events staff to plan and establish a calendar of both cultivation and stewardship activity for Director’s Circle members and donors including exhibition-based events, screenings, and private tours.
  • Secure external partners to provide exceptional benefits and unique experiences for Director’s Circle members.
  • Participate in member events, including occasional evenings and weekends; some travel required to meet with donors and program partners.
  • Assess and realign annual donor benefits to offer deeper engagement with the philanthropic impact of the Director's Circle support as needed.
  • Track and manage expense budget and processing of invoices for Director's Circle program.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in philanthropy, including experience in membership and annual fund, as well as a mid-level giving program.
  • Experience in providing concierge-level service to donors accustomed to a high level of quality, responsiveness, and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated intermediate proficiency and accuracy using MS Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and other software programs.
  • Prior experience working with Salesforce preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills; solid interpersonal and organizational skills, including problem solving.
  • Ability to address duties with initiative, accuracy, and attention to detail; can sort multiple priorities and respond to the needs of a fast-paced work environment.
  • Available to work weekends and evenings, and travel as needed.

The expected salary for this role is $68,000. The actual base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
