A law firm is seeking a Data, Privacy, and Cyber-Security Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of experience to advise cutting-edge digital health companies on a wide range of privacy and security matters. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively across practice areas to provide dynamic, practical legal advice to clients in the rapidly evolving health and life sciences industry. This role requires a deep understanding of HIPAA and other privacy/security regulations and a passion for client success.

Job Duties:

  • Advise digital health companies on privacy and security issues, particularly HIPAA compliance and related privacy regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional legal teams to address complex legal challenges facing health and life sciences clients.
  • Provide strategic and practical guidance on emerging privacy and security matters.
  • Stay current with evolving privacy regulations and implement best practices for clients.
  • Represent clients in negotiations, transactions, and compliance matters.
  • Assist with developing and implementing privacy and security policies for clients.
  • Work with technology companies and offer guidance on privacy and cybersecurity matters when applicable.

Job Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of legal experience in privacy, cybersecurity, and related regulatory matters.
  • Significant expertise in HIPAA and familiarity with other privacy laws and regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, and state-specific privacy laws.
  • Experience working with health and life sciences companies is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience advising technology companies is a plus.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the California State Bar or ability to waive in.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA and other U.S. privacy regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
