SUMMARY:

Responsible for creating profitable and competitive rates and contract proposals for assigned trade lanes and/or customers.


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, material, equipment, and labor estimates involved in assigned products, projects, or services, applying knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, or processes.
  2. Provides preliminary estimates for planning purposes and detailed itemized estimates based on final plans and specifications.
  3. Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and develops itemized lists.
  4. Utilizes data analytics and trends to shape market strategy and decision making.
  5. Serves as pricing liaison and market expert in support of strategic initiatives and leads global bid analysis.
  6. Reviews costs and other marketing data to develop rate offerings.
  7. Determine rate levels for RFP's and contract renewals sometimes exceeding $1 million.
  8. Ensure other departments (such as freight services, sales, and operations) are informed of pricing matters related to assigned trade lanes and marketplace opportunities.
  9. Formulates back-up information and positions on conference/discussion agreement dockets to support pricing management needs.
  10. If applicable, maintain assigned FMC tariffs and rates for assigned trade lanes.
  11. Leverages data analytics to identify opportunities in the market for improved profitability.
  12. Identify areas of opportunities for new services and negotiate directly with customers or via sales personnel to achieve the highest obtainable margins.
  13. May develop and maintain net analysis spreadsheets and costing information tools for pricing personnel in support of specific projects.
  14. May handle connecting carrier contracts and slot charter agreements.
  15. May serve as company representative at vendor evaluations, sales calls, conferences, and committee meetings.
  16. May be responsible for direct supervisor role over employees in the Analyst, Pricing position and/or student interns.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in business, transportation/logistics, or equivalent work experience; or a combination of post-high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.


EXPERIENCE:

3-5 years of industry experience and customer service or sales experience. 5-8 years of experience preferred.


TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY:

Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Salesforce and DocuSign is also required.

  12. Ability to identify and/or document existing and new trends, as well as evaluate and predict their impact on the organization.
  13. Knowledge of statistical methods and concepts used in pricing model and forecasting.
  14. Knowledge of various competitive pricing strategies.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Extended use of a computer keyboard, viewing of a computer monitor and the ability to sit for long periods of time.


Position Location – Remote

Salary Range – 72,000 thru 115,200

California +14%, Colorado +3%, New York City +25%, Washington +9%

  • Pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
