ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides functional/operational human resources guidance through planning, organizing and controlling the activities of the HR department.
- Develops and maintains a human resources system that meets management information needs; prepares activities reports for guidance of management; participates in negotiating collective bargaining agreements; and represents organization at personnel related hearings and investigations.
- Verifies adherence to terms of labor contract, coordinates and investigates union grievances. Furnishes data concerning labor practices and negotiations. Maintains a positive working relationship with union leaders.
- Recruits, interviews, and selects employees to fill vacant positions; plans and conducts new employee orientations to foster positive attitudes toward company goals.
- Acts as facility benefits point-of-contact. Supports corporate in the administration of employee benefits. Oversees all leaves of absence to ensure compliance with federal, state and local policies.
- Oversees the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by federal, state and local laws; establishes uniform correspondence procedures.
- Oversees the local processes in support of corporate payroll for all employees, ensuring accurate and timely pay within deadlines.
- Oversees Employee Record Report and Attendance Programs to ensure fairness and equality for all employees. Ensures accurate and timely processing.
- Conducts lawful investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
- Reviews and audits personnel records to insure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness; and formulates procedures for systematic retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of records. Keeps a record of personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations.
- Collaborates with plant leaders to provide performance appraisal input and ensures performance reviews are completed on time.
- Organizes and implements employee relations activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of progressive HR generalist experience with a minimum of 5 years' experience managing employee relations, recruiting, compensation, benefits administration and training.
- 5+ years working in a unionized manufacturing environment with experience working directly with the union on grievances. Experience with union negotiations is a plus.
- Demonstrated confidence including providing a consistent leadership style with an acceptable level of professional assertiveness.
- Full knowledge of State and Federal labor laws and regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- High level computer skills. Strong skills in Word and Excel required.
- PHR, SPHR or GPHR certification is a plus.
- SAP experience is a plus.
