PlayOn is looking for a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Fan Experience Development team. As a Senior Software Engineer, your core responsibilities will encompass spearheading and actively participating in the formulation, development, and upkeep of our NFHS Network applications and services. You will collaborate seamlessly with multifunctional teams to dissect, blueprint, and execute cloud-native software solutions that align precisely with customer requirements. Additional responsibilities and accountabilities for this role include:

  1. Lead the design, development, and maintenance of software applications.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze, design, and implement software solutions.
  3. Develop high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code.
  4. Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and other team activities.
  5. Mentor junior engineers and assist in their professional development.
  6. Evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations to the team.
  7. Ensure that development processes and practices are followed.
  8. Write technical documentation and ensure that it is up-to-date.
  9. Collaborate with other teams to ensure data consistency and integrity across systems.

The Person

  • Knowledge of Full-Stack Development : Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, Vue 3 (bonus points for Nuxt), Node.js , and Ruby on Rails.
  • Collaboration and Mentorship : Ability to work with product teams on breaking down stories, mentoring team members, strong debugging skills, and writing and maintaining unit and integration tests. Emphasis on collaboration, team orientation, empathy, and receptiveness to feedback.
  • Database Management : Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB), including database design and optimization.
  • Preferred Video Experience: Experience with web multimedia, video.js , and building customer-facing software strongly preferred.
  • Preferred Cloud Experience: Experience with AWS, CI/CD pipelines strongly preferred.
