Director of Food Service

Position Summary:

Manage all kitchen staff and front of the house operations to ensure the highest quality of customer service to residents.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Understands and is invested in the mission of Norwood Crossing and our dedication to our residents. This understanding is reflected and exhibited consistently through a customer services approach to the execution of all duties, responsibilities, and interactions at the workplace.
  2. Ensures quality standards for both cleanliness and sanitation in all areas of operation within the Dining Service Department.
  3. Ensures that all kitchen equipment are in proper operational condition and are cleaned on a regular basis.
  4. Ensures that all services and programs are in compliance with federal, state, and/or local regulations, laws, and statutes.
  5. Ensures a safe and sanitary work environment for all employees according to the IDPH standards.
  6. Assist with resident meal tickets, tray ticket production, and daily tray audits.
  7. Assist the department by supervising day to day operations and special events by planning, executing, and breakdown.
  8. Manage overall operation of unit with the support of the Director of Dining Services.
  9. Coordinate activities with other internal departments within Norwood Crossing and affiliates.
  10. Participate in management team meetings, care plans, and safety meetings.
  11. Facilitate training of dietary staff to serve in the dining rooms and skilled nursing floors.
  12. Other duties as assigned and appropriate.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Ability to pass the pre-employment and annual physical examinations;
  2. Ability (after a training period) to demonstrate proper use of supplies and office equipment;
  3. Possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met;
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of leadership, supervisory, and personnel principles and practices.
  5. Knowledge of the appropriate rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  6. Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.
  7. Willing to relate to in-house residents based on the maturity level at which they are currently functioning.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma required, advanced degree preferred.
  2. 2 (two) years prior food/beverage management experience.
  3. 2 (two) years senior/healthcare experience preferred.
  4. Must hold any and all licensure or certificates required by law.
  5. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  6. Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions and to accept constructive criticism.
  7. Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  8. Leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
  9. Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $91,000.00 - $92,000.00 per year
