We have a proven track for on-time deliveries.Primary Purpose of the PositionThe machinist will be responsible for operating machining tools to produce precision metal parts that meet precise specifications, by setting up and operating of a wide variety of machine tool equipment. They will read blueprints to understand customer specifications and use a variety of tools.Essential Functions / DutiesSets up and operates conventional, special-purpose, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic parts, and fits and assembles machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques.Technically proficient in the machining trade.Is self-motivated and proactive in addressing needs and issues.Read blueprints, sketches, and follows verbal instructions.Understand upcoming work and requirements, communicate needs before they impede production.Maintains dimensional logs for all the work and jobs that go across their machines.Understands the applicable sections of the SMC QC manual.Keeps work area clean and orderlyPerform preventative maintenance checksUnderstand safety rules that apply to the safety of others and to personal safety.Reports the malfunction of equipment to proper authority.Job RequirementsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesPrior heavy construction machiningSelf-starter with good customer service skills and a pleasant demeanor, with the ability to maintain a good working relationship with management and co-workersAbility to read and understand blueprintsMust be able to lift and carry tools and material weighing up to 50 poundsMust possess openness to learning new skills and collaborating with other team members to create solutionsOperate various types of machinery used in the trade such as milling and turning machinesPreferredMust have previous CNC Machining experienceEducation requirements or equivalent experience:Minimum high school diploma or GED or equivalentOne year of technical school or five years of machining experience.Completion of four-year apprentice program in a MachiningAble to read, write basic math (fractions, decimals, and trigonometry).Proficiency using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gages, etc.Read and interpret complicated drawings.Able to operate overhead and jib cranes.Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.Able to solve complex technical problems with limited direction.Not all aspects of the job are covered by the description - may require other duties as assigned.Job may change over time in accordance with business needs.Job description does not guarantee employment.Working ConditionsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical part , high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme heat or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock and vibration.
