We are a cutting edge, fast paced, engineering company. Our engineering infrastructure organization is seeking a dynamic leader to lead a team of experienced UNIX compute grid system administrators, with the goal of delivering a world class compute infrastructure to our global engineering community. The employee will be responsible for compute grid strategy, execution of key compute grid projects, and partnering with Engineering IT Operations personnel globally to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the compute grid.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Planning and Strategy Management for engineering grid from conception to completion.
  2. Engineering Grid modernization acumen along with a core ability to design, diagram, and continuously adapt an architecture roadmap that will meet new engineering demands.
  3. Distinct capability for applying empirical techniques and methods for determining engineering needs by generating quantitative output (capacity planning, sizing, scalability, performance efficiency, TCO) that can be substantiated prior to purchasing decisions.
  4. Research, evaluate, design, plan, and implement new and complex technologies into the current operating environment. Make recommendations and define the ROI for new technologies.
  5. IT Sourcing, Vendor relationships, Enterprise Cost Reduction, HPC computing, Storage strategy experience.
  6. Knowledge of ITIL and Business Continuity processes.
  7. Ability to work in a large organization where you have to work with other corporate service providers and outsourcers across multiple time zones.
  8. Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to present to executive management.
  9. Strong problem solving and ability to exercise mature judgment.

Job Requirements

In order to be successful, the candidate must be passionate about strategic planning, emerging technology trends, and researching creative solutions with partners/peers in the industry. Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, and leadership/influence skills will be critical for success. The ideal candidate will have the following qualities:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field.
  2. 10+ years of UNIX system and management experience with 5 years of management experience leading strategic planning efforts.
  3. Ability to lead a highly technical team.
  4. Strong people and program management skills.
  5. Excellent planning and financial management strength.
  6. Experience with Engineering Grid with diverse technologies.
  7. Hands-on technical management and automation focus.
  8. Ability to oversee a number of simultaneous projects while demonstrating urgency and ownership to drive issues to completion.
  9. Experience with EDA tools and environments strongly preferred.
  10. Out-of-the-box thinking.
  11. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
