Actuarial Analyst Responsibilities:
This is an excellent opportunity to enter our Actuarial development track and join a high-performing Actuarial department within a reputable organization located in downtown Chicago. This new position, starting May/June 2025, is within the Old Republic Actuarial Management Company “ORAMCO” actuarial team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting a team of actuaries with pricing analyses and reserve analyses for a variety of property-casualty commercial lines with the opportunity to grow. The candidate will work primarily in support of the ORRM large account and alternative risk group.
The Actuarial Analyst will assist a team of actuaries on a variety of property-casualty commercial lines projects. They will be exposed to pricing, quarter-end reserve analyses, compliance filings and other projects to support the subsidiaries from the Corporate Headquarters.
Our hybrid work program provides flexibility for 2 remote days per week.
Actuarial Analyst duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist actuarial team with data prep for pricing and reserving projects in a high production environment
- Develop rate level indications and other information in support of compliance filings
- Review/analyze renewal submissions for data consistency and accuracy. Identify, communicate, and resolve discrepancies in data including loss, premium, and exposures
- Scrub and summarize historical loss data provided in a wide range of file formats
- Perform quality reviews of other consultants’ work
- Complete basic pricing and reserving projects
- Prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
- Assist in maintaining and updating existing pricing models
- Gain familiarity with various internal and external data sources
- Complete other duties as assigned
Experience/Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
- Successful completion of at least one actuarial exam
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical abilities
- Strong planning, organization, and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills on multiple platforms and customer service skills including ability to effectively communicate with non-actuaries
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Successful completion of an actuarial or business internship preferred
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
