The Spa at The Ivy is seeking a licensed Massage practitioner to join our Spa family. We are a luxury, boutique brand, located within the Mt. Vernon community of Baltimore, on the second floor of The Ivy Hotel, a Relais & Chateaux property. 

Pay is excellent! Hourly base + Commission.  

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs therapeutic massage, body treatments and foot rituals with excellence 
  • Comfortable educating guests about massage therapy and its benefits.
  • Greet every guest with genuine, smiling eyes, direct eye contact and by their name.
  • Willing to learn about The Ivy Hotel, The Spa at The Ivy and Magdalena so that you may accurately and effectively communicate information about the property, it’s ownership, general history, and all of its amenities.
  • Must be a team player and be willing & able to communicate across all departments. The Spa is in direct communication with Hotel Reservations, Security, Concierge, Housekeeping, The Kitchen & Magdalena. The ability to communicate professionally and courteously is paramount.
  • Informs Spa Manager, Team Lead or Front Desk of any member, guest, or Spa related issues/concerns.
  • Assists staff with lifting and storing facility equipment, furniture, and products to help maintain facility and prepare for special events.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and order of the facility. Specifically, cleaning up after one's services and preparation of the room for continued services ie: sweeping and mopping your treatment room floor, disinfecting treatment room table between services, cleaning and sanitation of counters, surfaces, sink and walls, removal of trash and soiled laundry to their respective locations, washing product bowls, restocking products, towels and linens in treatments rooms
  • Availability When Facility Is Open: This could include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • In addition to providing therapeutic massage or facials, there is Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently and 10 pounds of force constantly to move light objects. 
  • The employee may be required to be exposed to noise, wet and humid conditions, fumes, odors, dust, chemical, mechanical, and electrical hazards.
  • This position requires the following abilities: climbing and descending stairs multiple times per day, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, typing, grasping, tactile sense, repetitive motions, wetting, squeezing and rolling towels, seeing, hearing, speaking, and visual acuity.
  • The employee will be required to operate the following tools: mops, brooms, dust pans, vacuum cleaners, dusters, scrub brushes, cleaning supplies, hot towel caddies, tea kettles, detergents, disinfectants, towels, guest supplies such as, retail products, soap, shampoo, and conditioner, as well as food and linen carts.

Qualifications

  • Have a genuine interest in Wellness and be energetic, upbeat and pleasant
  • Have a valid Massage Therapy licenses for Maryland and be in good standing with the Massage Board.
  • Have valid CPR credentials.
  • High School diploma/GED but some college experience is preferred.
  • Previous Massage Therapy experience REQUIRED 
  • Previous experience using and reading Spa scheduling software
  • Have a calm disposition and demeanor
  • Professional speech, mannerisms, discretion, and appearance.
  • Strong team player.
  • Must be able to stay calm and composed while under pressure.
  • Must have an eye for detail.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
