Fall River Health Services is looking for an Environmental Services Director. This person will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of environmental services, ensuring compliance with health regulations and promoting a safe, clean, and efficient environment within the organization. This role includes oversight of Environmental Services, Material Management, Biomedical Services, Valet Services, and Laundry Operations and Plant Operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Direct oversight of Biomed, Material Management, Housekeeping, Laundry, Plant Services and the Valet service caregivers.

Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit behaviors that are consistent with the mission, philosophy and vision of Fall River Health Services and the culture and objectives of Fall River Hospital, Seven Sisters Living Center and Fall River Health Clinic.
  • Administer or assist managers in such personnel actions as hiring, promotion and disciplinary action. Evaluates and documents manager performance and sets performance expectations. Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent employee information.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ensures compliance with all current policies, procedures and regulatory standards. Recommends policies to administration and carries out new programs.
  • Administer or assist department managers with capital budgets; monitors compliance to the budget; verifies and authorizes hours worked on manager’s time cards.
  • Participate in the Quality Assurance process in order to identify and resolve problems and demonstrate a positive impact on the quality of services provided.
  • Understand the heating/cooling, electrical and water systems and is able to troubleshoot problems as they occur.
  • Monitor safety procedures to ensure all governing agency policies are met. Attend Safety Committee meetings.
  • Attend educational training as needed to update knowledge and skills.
  • Provide support to department managers to ensure they are able to perform their work duties. Provide technical expertise to other departments.

Environmental Services Management:

  • Oversee the cleanliness and sanitation of all facilities.
  • Implement and monitor cleaning protocols to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Develop training programs for staff on best practices in environmental services.

Material Management:

  • Manage the procurement and inventory of supplies needed for environmental services.
  • Ensure efficient distribution and utilization of materials while minimizing waste.
  • Collaborate with other departments to optimize resource use and streamline processes.

Biomedical Services:

  • Supervise the safe handling, storage, and disposal of biomedical waste.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements concerning biomedical waste management.
  • Provide training to staff on handling and disposal protocols.

Valet Services:

  • Oversee valet operations, ensuring high standards of service and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop procedures for efficient vehicle handling and parking.
  • Train staff on customer service and safety protocols.

Laundry Operations:

  • Manage laundry services, including the processing and distribution of linens and uniforms.
  • Implement quality control measures to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Optimize laundry operations for efficiency and sustainability.

Plant Operations Oversight:

  • Oversee the operations of facility plant systems, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to implement preventive maintenance programs.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in associated field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Health, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in environmental services management or a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Building construction contracting process experience highly desired.
