Job Summary:
The School of Dental Medicine (SDM) welcomes applications for full-time Dental Care Assistants (Dental Care I or II) to work and support the Department of Faculty Practice. This full-time, University Staff (non-classified) will assist and provide four handed chair side dental assistance to the School of Dental Medicine faculty conducting patient care services to the general community and the Anschutz Medical Campos; greets and dismiss patients; patient preparation and positioning, clinical are preparation, use of sterile techniques and performing infection control procedures; perform and develop dental radiographs.
Work Location:
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Minimum Qualifications:
Dental Care I:
- One year of dental assisting experience
- Successful completion of an accredited dental assisting program may substitute for one year of experience. NOTE : If exercising the education substitution, applicants MUST attach a copy of their dental assisting certificate to their application materials no later than the closing date listed in the announcement.
- Must possess current valid CPR and/or BLS certification
- Must demonstrate knowledge of dental materials, their use, maintenance and storage
Dental Care II:
- Two years of dental assisting experience
- Successful completion of an accredited dental assisting program may substitute for one year of experience. NOTE : If exercising the education substitution, applicants MUST attach a copy of their dental assisting certificate to their application materials no later than the closing date listed in the announcement.
- Must possess current valid CPR and/or BLS certification
- Must demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of dental materials, their use, maintenance and storage
A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist License
- Recent experience working in a fast-paced dental environment
- Experience with clinical area preparation in a dental clinic and/or office.
- Experience taking x-rays
- Experience performing and developing digital dental radiographs.
- Experience in sterilizing dental tools, instruments and equipment.
- Experience working with students and faculty in a higher education and/or academic medical environment
- Experience working with multiple doctors
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Knowledge of dental terminology and instrumentation

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as:
Dental Care I $38,964 - $45,194.40
Dental Care II $42,948 - $49,826.40
The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
