This position is responsible for providing hardware and software system support to all departments of Samaritan Healthcare. This position facilitates the design, specification, implementation, administration, and support of network and communications components for the organization. Responsible for the supervision of the PC Support Analysts and Clinical Informatics. Functions as Security Officer to coordinate implementations of HIPAA security regulations.

The individual in this position reports to the Chief Administrative Officer. This position works closely with all departments, Medical Staff, and external vendors in order to assure system information is available at all times.

The salary for this position is $113,000 - $148,000.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES (not limited to):

  • Work with computer support analysts to investigate and resolve Server, Meditech, and all PC software and/or hardware user problems, using priority scheduling. Ensure current detailed descriptions of user needs and steps required to develop or modify existing systems for all applications.
  • Research and develop new information systems needs, including project planning, budgeting, and staffing. Must be able to understand hardware requirements, including, but not limited to, cabling controllers, device locations, maps, blueprints, etc.
  • Prepare and recommend budget for operation staffing, hardware, and other components and maintain proper records.
  • Confer with hospital departments to ascertain specific output requirements (type of output, degree of data summarization, and format of reports).
  • Work with other healthcare departments to develop policies and procedures as they relate to computer generated information. Assure complete documentation relating to all projects.
  • Investigate and resolve computer software and hardware problems of users. This may include contacting vendors, as needed, to resolve problems.
  • Responsible for installation of all hardware/software upgrades as they relate to Practice Partners, Meditech, and other computer systems in our facilities. Work with department leaders as to scheduling, establishing priorities, and internal policy/procedure changes as necessary.
  • Develop and implement training plans for Meditech and PC users, as needed, in support of Samaritan Healthcare mission.
  • Maintain department records, reports, and ensure that all contracts are current.
  • Delegate work assignments, as needed, to department staff. Maintain work orders, prioritize and assign tasks.
  • Function as Security Officer to coordinate implementation of the HIPAA security rules and regulations.
  • Manages the training and development of subordinates through the utilization of performance management.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  • Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.
  • Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.
  • Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization’s values.
  • Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.
  • Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (not limited to):

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Resource Management, Business, or equivalent training, experience, and certification.
  • Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of networking and router technology to maintain current network architecture.
  • Must possess logical thinking skills and be able to interpret and develop technical specifications necessary for project completion.
  • Five (5) years experience in a multi-vendor network environment.
  • Experience in computer operations to provide total support for networked environment, personal computers, and workstation areas.
  • Responsible for network management and design, TCP/IP, SMS, Active Directory, Linux, Cisco router and switches, WAN (Frame Relay, T1, Leased lines), Asynchronous Communications, VOIP.
  • Ability to exercise planning, organization, delegation, and follow-through skills to effectively complete the most complex technical assignments.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve user problems in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.
  • Basic Life Support Heartsaver (HS) level to be completed within three (3) months of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Heavy physical effort at times, lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional prolonged standing/walking.
  • Exposed to hot or noisy equipment.
  • Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public.
