We can't do it without you.The Sales & Use Tax Accountant, IIII role at Jack Henry is an opportunity for someone with sales and use tax compliance, accounting, and planning experience to join a small tax team that oversees the tax functions of a large public company. Key responsibilities include preparation of tax returns and analysis involving sales and use, payroll and miscellaneous taxes. As a well-rounded technology company, Jack Henry offers an array of products and services, the candidate will need to be able to navigate the taxation environment of the technology and digital services sector.Additionally, the ideal candidate should be a proactive learner and have interest in contributing to innovation and process improvement through experience and/or use of data transformation tools or technology applications that support finance and tax professionals. The Sales & Use Tax Accountant, III works under general supervision and is responsible for ensuring we meet required tax filing deadlines.This position will be filled to work a Hybrid schedule at any of the following locations: Allen, TX / Lenexa, KS / Springfield, MO / Monett. You are required to come into the office 1 day a week and based on business needs and meetings may be required to travel to one of the office locations listed. We have corporate flight shuttles you can take to travel conveniently between office locations.This position will have a salary range of $58,000-$80,000 based on experience and location.What you'll be responsible for:Prepares Sales/Use Tax and Payroll Tax returns.Maintains proficient knowledge of indirect tax laws affecting the company.Reconciles sales, use, and payroll tax payable accounts in general ledger after returns have been completed.Maintains company tax records, prepares filings for tax refunds, and research inquiries from government agencies regarding filings, compliance, and other claims.Collaborates in innovation and process improvement or other technology investment/adoption initiatives within the Tax department or Finance business unit.Research methods, laws, and planning to present recommended tax strategies that meet business needs while lessoning tax burdens.Assists in state and local tax audits or other notifications from taxing authorities.Partners with other departments to ensure alignment with tax objectives and goals.May collaborate with internal and external auditors.Performs other duties as assigned.What you'll need to have:Bachelor’s degree in tax, accounting, finance or other Business related field.Minimum of 4 years of experience in Sales & use tax compliance in multi-state jurisdiction.Must have extensive Excel experience.Must be able to use independent judgment to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload in order to manage and meet required deadlines.Must be able to travel up to 5% for meetings, engagement, events, team member collaboration sessions.Must be able to work extended hours as business needs dictate and have the ability to work late evening/overtime at key deadlines.What would be nice for you to have:CPAExperience with Vertex sales tax engine.Alteryx and/or PowerBI and/or other data transformation applications experience.Oracle or PeopleSoft experience.If you got this far, we hope you're feeling excited about this opportunity.
