Job Summary
Under the direction of the Chief Planning and Performance Officer, the Director of Training and Evidence-Based Practice Implementation is responsible for overseeing CHNY's agency-wide staff training plan, implementation of evidence-based and other proven models, and all other learning and staff professional development initiatives at Covenant House New York (CHNY). This position ensures that there is a coordinated and strategic approach to training, model implementation, and learning throughout the agency. This is a hybrid position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Responsibilities to include but not limited to the following)
Training and Evidence-Based Model Implementation
- Develops and implements an agency-wide training plan that addresses needs and expectations of all CHNY programs.
- Oversees training compliance and collaborates with leadership to ensure CHNY is providing all required training to staff, and all staff receive the required training.
- Leads implementation of new best practices and approaches.
- Supervises and collaborates with the Learning and Development Manager in organizing and scheduling monthly training to meet staff needs and accomplish training goals outlined in the agency training plan.
- Develops, in partnership with program leadership, training implementation plans and manuals for new trainings and evidence-based and proven models the agency is adopting.
- Works to continuously improve and integrate core competencies of evidence-based practice into the CHNY training plans.
- Oversees and participates in monthly new employee orientation onboarding process.
- Oversees implementation of multiple evidence-based models (EBMs) being used at the agency, including leading the selection of EBMs, managing the administrative aspects of launching EBMs, training in EBMs, developing in-house expertise among supervisors, and tracking and monitoring of fidelity of EBMs.
- Develops strategies to support EBM implementation and to create a climate where the importance of proven effectiveness is tied to the larger goal of improving client services.
- Works closely with evidence-based model developers and consultants to ensure implementation of models with a high degree of fidelity.
- Oversees implementation of the Covenant House Program Model, a holistic, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approach to work with youth.
- Oversees the agency-wide professional development initiatives to support continuous learning of all employees.
- Ensures that training participants' satisfaction and assessment data is collected, analyzed, and used to inform future trainings and model implementation.
Management and Compliance
- Supervises and develops a department with a strong sense of accountability for achieving positive outcomes and complying with CHNY policies and other entities' regulations and requirements.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
Leadership and Coaching
- Manages the performance evaluation and professional development of staff they supervise.
- Embraces a data-driven culture that is outcomes-oriented and creatively responsive to programmatic challenges.
- Promotes a caring, inclusive, and equitable culture and a thriving, engaged staff.
- Always upholds CHNY's mission, vision, and principles, standards of conduct, policies, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned and needed.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES
- This position supervises the Learning and Development Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's level degree in Human Services, Social Work, Public Administration, Law, or another relevant field or Bachelor's degree with relevant experience.
- Three years of experience administering and developing training curricula.
- Evidence-based model expertise including demonstrated successful experience implementing models.
- Knowledgeable about the science of dissemination and implementation.
- Experience using an online Learning Management System, with preference for experience utilizing Relias.
- Experience in supervisory, management, or consultation roles.
- Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills.
- Highly professional with the ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with colleagues and outside trainers and consultants.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
