Engineering Services Manager

Our Madison, WI office is now hiring an Engineering Services Manager. The Engineering Services Manager is responsible for leading a team of civil engineers, technicians, surveyors, and other technical staff who design, develop, and implement projects. This position is responsible for the mentorship, career development, and management of assigned staff within their respected group as well as planning, organizing, and directing work to staff as it relates to projects. This position also coordinates efforts with other managers and the Director of Services to ensure efficient use of resources.

Key Responsibilities Include:

1. Manages and oversees the preparation and administration of contract documents, correspondence with agencies, and client relations for diverse projects, including commercial and residential development, schools, public facilities, and utilities.
2. Manages all aspects of projects including client relations, scope and fee determination, designation of project team, schedules, and administration of projects.
3. Manages engineering and surveying project teams, including staffing, supervision, performance management, training and mentorship, and professional development. Prepares performance evaluations; recommends and administers progressive discipline; determines staff training and development programs; promotes cooperative team efforts among staff and with other departments; motivates employees to provide quality service to clients.
4. Engages in business development efforts by cultivating community relationships to promote continued growth while ensuring client satisfaction through excellent communication and time- and budget-conscious designs.
5. Directs project and construction management, including reviewing contract specifications, and the prequalification process; reviews and prepares standard engineering agreements, contract documents, and construction RFP specifications; develops and monitors project time schedules and expenditures; administers changes and assesses change requests and claims arising from consulting agreements and construction contracts.
6. Assists in the development of goals and budgets for the team; responsible for the review of financial metrics and reporting and for the overall financial performance of their team including balancing workload, staffing levels, and meeting fee budgets.
7. Supports, understands, and administers corporate policies and procedures consistently.
8. Other duties as assigned.

We are looking for candidates who have a Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, as well as candidates with 2+ years of direct management experience. Excellent people skills are a must, as well as the ability to lead a team of engineers and collaborate with other members of management and staff within the firm.
