JOB DESCRIPTION
Regal Boats is seeking a self-motivated Product Compliance Specialist to ensure our product documentation meets industry standards and regulations. Working with the Engineering Team, this role develops and maintains essential technical documentation, including manuals, safety protocols, and compliance reports. Ideal candidates have strong technical writing skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of marine industry standards such as ABYC and USCG.

• Compliance Oversight:

1. Ensure all technical documentation complies with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

• Documentation Development:

1. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation that adheres to organizational and regulatory standards, including product manuals, safety guidelines, and compliance reports.

• Technical Writing:

1. Collaborate with engineers and subject-matter experts to gather and translate complex information into clear, concise, and user-friendly content.

• Regulatory Research:

1. Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and standards (e.g., ABYC, USCG) to ensure compliance in all documentation and processes.

• Audit Support:

1. Assist in preparing for internal and external audits by ensuring that all required documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and readily accessible.

• Product Lifecycle Documentation:

1. Develop and maintain process documentation, safety protocols, and technical specifications to support the full product lifecycle, from design to production.

• Build Books:

1. Produce the final "build book" required for manufacturing, incorporating all red-line edits and revisions from engineering and compliance reviews.

• Content Improvement:

1. Evaluate current documentation and propose innovative methods for improvement, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and usability.

Required Qualifications

1. Experience in compliance management or technical writing, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
2. Proficiency in industry regulations and compliance standards (e.g., ABYC, USCG, ISO).
3. Strong technical writing skills with experience creating user manuals, safety protocols, and technical documentation.
4. Ability to quickly learn and utilize 3D CAD software or previous experience using 3D CAD systems.
5. Ability to climb in and around boats in various stages of prototype and production, balancing in irregular environments.
6. Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with production staff and engineers.
7. Physical ability to walk significant distances within the factory (approximately one mile or more per day).
8. Ability to handle loud noises, dust, and fumes in certain areas of the production environment (particle masks and other PPE required).
9. Conversational English proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Two or more years of experience as a compliance specialist or technical writer.
2. Familiarity with technical standards in the marine or boating industry.
3. Proficiency in design documentation software like InDesign.
4. AA degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions, normal office environments or factory environments that are not climate controlled. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The factory in certain areas maintains a high fiberglass and dust environment.
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to climb ladders and scaffolding, balance him/herself inside of hulls, decks, or small parts with sloped/irregular surfaces, handle loud noises and some dust/fumes (particle masks required), walk approximately one mile or more per day without problem. Must be able to climb inside, on top of and around boats in prototype and production. Personal Protective Equipment might be required in certain areas of the factory including but not limited to safety glasses, respirator, hearing protection, gloves and protective garments. Employees in safety-sensitive positions must report to work fit for duty and must remain fit for duty throughout their work day. To be fit for duty, the employee must not be impaired by alcohol, illicit drugs, or medication.
