Job Overview:
The Sales Associate at Winner Café is responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting with sales, and ensuring the smooth daily operations of the café. This individual will play a key role in creating a welcoming environment for all guests, maintaining product knowledge, and helping achieve the café's sales goals. The ideal candidate is passionate about food, hospitality, and community and has an enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
- Greet customers with a friendly, welcoming demeanor.
- Engage with customers to understand their needs, provide product recommendations, and answer any questions about the café offerings.
- Address customer complaints and resolve them efficiently to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Handle all orders efficiently, ensuring accuracy and quality in each transaction.
- Maintain an inviting and clean café environment for guests.
- Be knowledgeable about the café menu, including food, beverages, daily specials, and new items.
- Educate customers on the sourcing, preparation, and ingredients of menu items, emphasizing Winner’s commitment to local, sustainable products.
- Upsell items by offering customers additional or higher-value products, based on their preferences.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of products and report any low stock items to management.
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently to process transactions accurately and quickly.
- Handle cash, credit card transactions, and provide accurate change as needed.
- Ensure all transactions are properly recorded and maintain an organized and tidy checkout area.
- Collaborate with other team members to maintain smooth operations during peak hours and shift transitions.
- Communicate customer feedback and suggestions to the Café Manager and team to continuously improve service.
- Assist with training new sales associates and other team members on product knowledge and customer service best practices.
- Regularly check product displays, counters, and seating areas to ensure they are clean and presentable.
- Assist in replenishing stock on shelves and ensure the café is well organized.
- Follow health and safety guidelines, including proper food handling procedures and sanitation practices.
- Assist in promoting any special offers, seasonal products, or new menu items to customers.
- Engage with regular customers and help build a positive community atmosphere within the café.
- Support the execution of in-café events or promotions when necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a customer service or sales role, preferably in food service or hospitality.
- Passion for locally sourced food and knowledge of coffee, pastries, and café operations is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to engage and connect with diverse customers.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions and cash management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stay calm under pressure.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to lift or move items up to 30 pounds while walking up and down stairs..
