Travel Nurse RN - PCU in Chesapeake, VA

**Shift:** Day Shift, 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30), with weekdays, every other weekend, float, and holidays within the contract

**License:** In hand preferred; temporary license process needs to be started prior to applying
**Certifications:**
- BLS and ACLS required (via American Heart Association)
- NIHSS required
**Must-Have:**
- EPIC proficiency
- Driving license for address verification
**Job Description:**
- Stepdown RN needed for a general Step Down Unit (SDU) with a variety of patient populations
- Patient types include pulmonary acute respiratory failure secondary to pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, and/or CHF exacerbation; cardiac - NSTEMI/STEMI not requiring ICU level care and/or downgrade from ICU, +/- cardiac cath, CHF/CMO requiring BIPAP/diuresis, AFIB with RVR requiring Cardizem/Amio gtt, or complete heart block awaiting AICD/Pacemaker; sepsis not requiring pressors; minor trauma hip/femur/ankle fracture s/p fall; CIWA; DKA requiring insulin gtt; occasional vascular surgery and/or post-op complications from MedSurg
- Typical ratios are 1:4, sometimes 1:5
- Skills required: vents, IV start, Telemetry, PA lines, Conscious Sedation, Neuro IV titration, Insulin IV experience, strong Neuro experience required
- Must be willing to float
- EKG Testing is required, with one attempt and no remediation available; a score of 80% or higher is needed to pass
**Additional Information:**
- Flu vaccine required, with medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed
- Any history of fit test issues will eliminate a candidate from consideration, no exceptions
