This part-time position starts at 7 a.m. and ends either at 12 p.m. or 6 p.m. Pay begins at minimum wage. Days vary, but include weekdays and weekends (Applicant MUST be available on Fridays and Saturdays). It requires working with dogs, cats, the occasional rabbit, and their relative owners. Applicants should be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted, whether wiggling or not. Reliable transportation is required. Patience with intransigent and loud animals is a MUST.
More specific duties include, and are not limited to: mopping, cleaning, laundry, sweeping, bathing, trimming of claws and/or fur, trash removal, cleaning/sampling/recognizing animal poop, pee and sometimes vomit, cleaning up blood or little bodies without faint or nausea, and not ignoring hairballs gathered in corners. Applicants will be trained on proper handling, walking, protocols for moving pets and communication with clients. Training will ultimately include patient monitoring for anesthesia, blood collection, processing lab specimens, taking vitals, using the computers, and basic yet accurate client communication.
