Full-Time, 12 Month Position

YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School is a tuition-free, public charter high school, with a singular focus on supporting youth aged 17-20 who have been pushed out of traditional schools. During our 1-year alternative program, Youthbuild facilitates a warm, loving culture that uses a variety of structures to build community, such as a restorative-justice approach to discipline, weekly community meetings, and school-wide service projects. Students are empowered to attain their high school diploma and vocational certifications, while receiving unconditional support by the staff around them. The Opportunity:

The YouthBuild Human Resources Specialist plays a vital role in maintaining the organization's HR department by supporting documentation, communication, and compliance. They manage employee files and updates to the HRIS system and assist in employee onboarding, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed on time. Additionally, they participate in recruitment, conduct interviews, and respond to inquiries providing essential support to the organization.

What You’ll Do:

You will..

  • Contribute to the enhancement of the organization's human resources department by maintaining accurate employee documentation, communication, and compliance.
  • Assist in the development and updating of HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the administration of employee benefits through the full process cycle (assists and liaises with benefits broker and carriers to resolve insurance claims, employee enrollment, general administration of benefits, retirement, FSA accounts, and ACA reporting).
  • Oversee day-to-day processes for employee leaves of absence, short-term disability, FMLA requests, COBRA administration, worker’s compensation claims, PTO issues, unemployment claims, and other employee leaves issues.
  • Approve invoices from benefit providers, ensuring appropriate calculation of premiums are being charged. Ensures appropriate billing of insurances, and submits payments via Certify in a timely manner.
  • Maintain employee files and HRIS system (Paylocity).
  • Act as point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, respond to general inquiries from outside vendors.
  • Lead, design and manage the organization's wellness events.
  • Track employee required onboarding documentation and complete follow ups to ensure all necessary information is received by deadline.
  • Post job openings on various platforms and screen resumes. Participate in employment fairs, conduct initial interviews and coordinate the interview process.
  • Creates and facilitates new employee orientation sessions and assists in employee onboarding.
  • Manage the Human Resources Interns as needed.
  • Coordinate and assist with the process of rewriting and updating job descriptions as necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned by the Senior Director of Human Resources.

Salary Range:

New YouthBuild coordinator level staff can expect a starting salary of between $46,000 - $60,500 based on years of experience, education, and certifications, if applicable.
