Primary Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for maintaining best practices for the development, engineering, design, integration, and updating of various levels of control design packages to meet or exceed industry standards, practices, project requirements and specifications.
  • Reviews documents from all trades for coordination purposes.
  • Performs as-built site surveys for documentation of existing control system retrofits.
  • Designs and integrates computer aided controls design packages for operating, controlling, viewing and commissioning HVAC equipment and controllers for building automation systems.
  • Engineer and Design control systems to meet control project objectives, specifications, and HVAC sequence of operation requirements.
  • Works directly with Project Manager, Programmer, Graphics Designer, and System Specialist to convert project requirements into engineered control drawings and submittals.
  • Performs existing system field evaluations and accurate field observation abilities including as-built drawings. Modifying, updating, and redlining existing control drawings for change orders, O&Ms, owners records, and archiving.
  • Communicates and coordinates with staff and clients in a timely manner for project scheduling, project requirements, designs, final layouts, installation, and commissioning of the building automation system.
  • Reviews final controls design with Project Manager, Programmer, Graphics Designer, System Specialist, and Installation Team to verify system meets or exceeds project requirements.
  • Updates technical knowledge by researching new controls design technologies, applications, and software products. Meets or exceeds control design standards by following productivity, quality, customer-service standards, identifying work process improvements and implementing new technologies.
  • Able to give and receive constructive criticism regarding project design success or failure.
  • Maintains accurate historical graphics records by documenting design developments and revisions in the Standards Controls Library while observing high quality standards.
  • Duties also include coaching and mentoring other members of the Controls team with in-house and on the job training in support of employee continued education.
  • Works directly with Operations to implement cost efficient design measures where possible.
  • Other duties, responsibilities, tasking, and special projects as assigned by management or ownership.

Our Requirements:

  • Minimum of four (4) to six (6) years of commercial/industrial HVAC controls or building automation system engineering and design experience.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Industrial Technology may be substituted for two years of experience.
  • Experience with computer aided controls and HVAC design.
  • Proficiency with various desktop publishing tools and industry specific system design software.
  • Operating knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office Software. Work proficiency with computers and hand-held devices such as smart phones, tablets, etc.
  • Some estimating experience preferred. Will train the right candidate.
  • Good working knowledge of controls and HVAC designs and packages for HVAC and Lighting systems monitored and controlled by building automation systems from Unitary Systems to Central Plants.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, specifications, mechanical drawings, controls drawings submittals, and IOM manuals.
  • Good working knowledge of mechanical and electrical code.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license with no major traffic violations, suspensions, or DUI’s in previous 5 years.
  • No current or pending Workman Compensation Claims.
  • Must successfully complete background check, drug screen, physical conditions of employment job screen, and team interview as condition of employment.
  • Self-starter with attention to detail.
  • Occasionally work from either a step ladder, extension ladder, or man lift with no fear of heights.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate an on-going willingness to continue education through available company and industry sponsored training.
  • Good work ethic and the desire to advance professionally and personally.
  • Demonstrate good customer service skills, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Work some flexible hours on occasion depending on Control System access requirements.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
