Position Summary
Provide assistance to the Medical Technologist III (Manager of Point of Care Testing, Safety, Quality Assurance and Compliance) in the oversight and coordination of Point of Care Testing (clinical laboratory testing) throughout the hospital and ambulatory sites, maintaining laboratory compliance with CLIA, CAP and TJC and other appropriate regulatory agencies.
Duties & Responsibilities
- 35% Follow up on QI/Compliance requests.
- 20% Assist in the management of PPM physician testing.
- Assist with PT recordkeeping (surveys/evaluations)
- 15% Assist in the management of POCT PT records
- Assist in graphing QAI monitors
- Request QAI data.
- Process and document incoming CAP surveys
- 10% Assist in the management of CLIA certificates
- Assist in the management of CLSI requests.
- Assist in checking samples.
- Assist in the management of HIM monthly audits
- 10% Assist in the Management of the Safety Program: Fire Drills, OSHA tours, EHSO audits, lab safety meetings, chemical inventories, TB surveillance, packaging biohazardous samples.
- 10% Assist in the organization of CAP inspection records
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Meets basic standards and qualifications for laboratory testing personnel under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), Subpart M, Section 493.1489.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer that incumbent have a Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology or a closely related field.
- Must have one year of clinical experience in the absence of a MLS or other Laboratory Science degree/certification.
- Must have knowledge of CLIA rules and regulatory requirements. Must have knowledge of CAP and TJC requirements.
