Position Summary

This Analyst - Financial Planning and Analysis position is ideal for a strong performer who has a general working knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, and financial planning and analysis. This individual should be very comfortable with using Excel and able to develop and update a variety of financial reports, including those used for Group financial planning and business unit analysis.

Candidates should be analytical, highly motivated, quick learners with good verbal and written communication skills, and work well with other financial team members.

Position Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design, preparation, and distribution of the quarterly Corporate Management Reports.
  • Assist with the updating of the Corporate Financial Planning Model to monitor and forecast business unit and Group results.
  • Coordinate the preparation, review, and distribution of the Company's Board of Director materials and related PowerPoint presentations.
  • Create and perform ad hoc queries, analysis, and/or analytics upon request.
  • Participate in evaluating business and accounting issues. This requires identifying problems, researching alternatives, preparing analysis, and making recommendations.
  • Create and distribute monthly business unit expense vs. budget reports.
  • Handle confidential information with complete and full discretion and sound judgment.
  • Perform other duties as requested, in support of the Company's financial functions and administrative operations.

  • Effective communication skills; comfortable and effective in interacting with varying levels of management and other professional staff.
  • Self-motivated and energetic with a strong work ethic; assumes ownership of assigned tasks and drives tasks to completion.
  • Strong work ethic with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Analytical thinker known for proposing creative solutions and thinking outside of the box.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, or other database applications.
  • Ability to work in one of the identified offices 3+ days per week.

Education / Experience / Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in a financial planning and analysis or accounting role.
  • Property Casualty insurance accounting experience a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Physical demands are considered to be that of an office environment, climate controlled, with minimal physical exertion. This position requires prolonged sitting, ability to utilize a computer and interactions with others in meetings or via phone.
  • Ability to travel as necessary for business reasons.
