Sr. Data Modeler

Key Skills Required:

  • Data Modelling: Extensive experience in data modelling, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • DRB (Data Resource Book): Strong experience with DRB methodologies and tools.
  • Database Design: Proficiency in database design and development, including normalization, indexing, and partitioning.
  • SQL: Advanced SQL skills for querying and managing databases.
  • ETL Processes: Knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data integration techniques.
  • Data Warehousing: Experience with data warehousing concepts and best practices.
  • Tools: Proficiency in data modelling tools such as Erwin, IBM InfoSphere Data Architect, or similar.
  • Big Data Technologies: Familiarity with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL databases is a plus.
  • Cloud: Good understanding of Cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure).
  • Data Governance: Good understanding of data governance, data management, data engineering, data visualization concepts and tools used in the industry.
  • Collaboration: Excellent communication and teamwork skills for collaborating with business analysts, data architects, and developers.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop robust data models to support business requirements, ensuring consistency, quality, and accuracy.
  • Utilize DRB methodologies to create and maintain comprehensive data resource books.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and interpret requirements, translating them into effective data models.
  • Develop and optimize database schemas, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.
  • Support ETL processes and data integration initiatives, ensuring data consistency and integrity across systems.
  • Implement data warehousing solutions, supporting reporting and analytics needs.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance policies and standards.
  • Conduct data profiling and analysis to identify and resolve data quality issues.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data modelers and data engineers.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in data modelling and database technologies.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in data modelling, database design, and data management.
  • Strong experience with DRB methodologies and tools.
  • Proficiency in SQL and data modelling tools such as Erwin or IBM InfoSphere Data Architect.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Familiarity with Big Data technologies is a plus.
