Job Description Summary:

The Director of Distribution is responsible for leading warehouse and delivery operations within a market. Lead strategic planning, optimize operational efficiency, minimize costs, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. The role involves managing staff and logistics partners, as well as implementing technology and continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, the Director of Distribution collaborates with other departments and corporate teams to ensure smooth coordination throughout the supply chain.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute distribution strategies aligned with the company's overall business objectives and standards.
  • Lead and manage day-to-day warehouse and delivery operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness, maximizing service levels and performance.
  • Act as a liaison with commercial partners such as sales, suppliers, etc. to drive operational success.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Analyze distribution costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality and service levels.
  • Prepare and maintain required paperwork, reports, and records.
  • Analyze data to make informed decisions and recommendations.
  • Implement best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize processes.
  • Oversee inventory control to ensure accurate inventory and minimize discrepancies.
  • Recruit, train, and develop warehouse and delivery teams.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to motivate and engage employees.
  • Set performance goals and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Promote a culture of safety and implement safety training programs.
  • Comply with transportation and distribution laws and regulations.
  • Develop and manage distribution budgets.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Manage business continuity planning and execution.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and problem-solving within the distribution teams.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent preferred; five or more years related experience, of which three to five years previous distribution, transportation and/or warehouse management and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to regularly operate a motor vehicle.
  • Current state driver's license.
  • Spanish bilingual abilities preferred.
