Guardian Engineering Enterprises is seeking a Project Engineering Manager with Midstream oil and gas experience to lead multi-discipline engineering teams in executing projects primarily in the energy sector. This role will be based in our Chicago, IL office, as relocation assistance or per diem are not provided.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for executing the engineering portion of a multi-discipline engineering scope of work on one or more projects/work scopes. Responsible for coordinating and completing the various engineering and start-up aspects of a project(s) while meeting HSSES, quality, schedule,

and budget performance goals. Responsible for the technical excellence of the engineering portion of a project(s) across all disciplines.

  • Provide engineering management, oversight, and technical guidance to discipline engineering teams across the project lifecycle from concept to completion.
  • Enforce Guardian Engineering’s standards, policies, and commitment to health, safety, quality, and ethical performance.
  • Plan and directly manage select engineering work scopes while coordinating various disciplines to ensure cohesive project execution.
  • Act as primary field liaison between project teams, clients, and corporate leadership.
  • Assist with proposal development, project estimating, resource planning, status reporting, and client presentations.
  • Identify potential problems or opportunities; analyze issues; develop alternatives; drive matters to closure.
  • Participate in design development, feasibility studies, detailed engineering, and hands-on inspection.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of engineering best practices, methodologies, and technologies.

  • Driving technical assurance on the assigned scope(s) of work.
  • Manage, lead, support, and supervise the discipline engineering teams on the assigned scope(s) of work.
  • Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities
  • Developing and retaining motivated and competent people.
  • Undertaking the role of process owner.
  • Driving safety by design.
  • Driving and leading on opportunities for innovation.
  • Experience delivering engineering and design on large offshore facilities.

May participate directly in the design, development and inspection of technical projects or the engineering work of the department .

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A BS/MS in Engineering or Construction Management is required (mechanical engineering is preferred).
  • A bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited institution is preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Proven project team leadership abilities; strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing engineering teams distributed across various geographical regions; adept at leading cohesive teams while working remotely.
  • Commitment to personal accountability for safety and ethics.
  • Willingness to inspire high performance and foster an empowering work culture.
  • Familiarity with common industry codes, standards, and processes.

  • Assist with promoting the Safety Goals of the Client, Guardian Engineering and the Project.
  • Assists with implementing the Project Execution Plan.
  • Ensure the use of approved work processes, procedures, and tools.
