Account Manager / Sales Engineer

Position Description

  • Consultative sales of capital equipment in a multi-state region to support primary metals producers (steel, aluminum, copper)
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to explain a value proposition to varying levels of an organization.
  • Routinely research and prospect new potential customers within territory.
  • Work with the customers and internal engineering team to ensure the equipment meets or exceeds the customer requirements.
  • Effective communication skills to establish customer rapport and acceptance.
  • Identify key account decision makers and build strategic relationships.
  • Help clients to solve problems with product usage.
  • Recommend new and improved products to the customers and explain how the equipment will be more cost-effective.
  • Responsible for achieving sales target and gross margin.
  • Create a yearly business plan that outlines the key growth initiatives, strategic goals and tactics for the assigned territory as well as a comprehensive market analysis for all potential sources of revenue.
  • Maintain/update all customer and opportunity information in CRM software, including but not limited to opportunity probability, key customer notes, summary notes of all meetings, follow up dates, etc.
  • Provide forecasts and budgets (monthly, quarterly and annually) for company planning.
  • Regularly introduce new product features/information to key customers on an as needed basis.
  • Provide market feedback and competition benchmark information to marketing and product development teams.
  • Promote team leadership and a positive, collaborative team-selling environment.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience selling automation into the primary metals market (steel, aluminum and copper)
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, marketing, business administration, or related field.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, customer service, and sales acumen.
  • The ability to relate technical information to non-technical customers.
  • Excellent technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good leadership and team working skills.
  • Commitment to frequent overnight travel. Candidate should anticipate approximately 75% travel for this role.
