Construction Estimator

Our client, located in the Washington, DC area, has an immediate need for a Mid Level Civil Construction Estimator position with infrastructure experience.

Duties Include:

1. Coordinates total estimating effort relevant to project assigned
2. Rail/Transit design and construction a plus
3. Reviews construction documents including proposal specifications and drawings
4. Attends pre-bid meetings to fully understand the scope of work to bid
5. Inputs take-off quantities into estimating software
6. Search and analyze most cost-effective means and methods of construction
7. Obtains pricing for materials
8. Prepares bids by coordinating with and selecting vendors and subcontractors to determine cost effectiveness of projects to be bid
9. Prepares cost analysis in computer by itemizing material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items
10. Where predetermined standard(s) are not available, makes an estimate and qualifications
11. Follow awarded contracts as assigned; may include estimating extra work items, change orders or credits
12. Informs the immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in bid document
13. Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
14. Advises all necessary parties of major changes to scope of work
15. Once project complete debriefing with estimating, engineering and production teams to discuss the outcome
16. Maintain back up files and working documents for all estimated figures including current, accurate information and costs from suppliers and subcontractors
17. Attends departmental meetings as required
18. Photocopies documents and plans
