Job Requirements / Description
A law firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Advisor/Patent Agent to join their team in Boston, MA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in preparing and prosecuting patent applications, with additional experience in litigation, opinions, licensing, patent due diligence, and/or trademark matters. The candidate must possess excellent communication and research skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and prosecute patent applications.
- Draft responses to USPTO office actions.
- Work closely with attorneys for patent preparation and prosecution.
- Draft instructions to foreign patent agents in response to office actions.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of products and technical developments.
- Conduct patentability studies and draft related assessments.
- Provide technical support for opinions, diligence projects, and litigation.
- Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties.
- Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and reply to correspondence efficiently and responsively.
- Provide timely, accurate, and quality work products.
- Meet deadlines and perform work duties as required.
- Foster positive work relationships.
- Comply with all firm policies and practices.
- Engage in both physical and sedentary activities, such as working at a computer for extended periods, participating in digital/virtual conference calls, and attending meetings as needed.
- Perform all other duties, tasks, or projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- 2-5 years of engineering and/or research experience.
- Excellent communication and research skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Science (CS), Mechanical Engineering (ME), or a related field.
- Master’s Degree or similar advanced degree desired.
- Registration with the USPTO.

- Ability to produce high-quality deliverables and respond to correspondence efficiently.
