Technical Product Manager, Underground Switchgear

Position Summary

Reporting to Product Line Manager, this position supports a global product line through tactical, application, and technical support. The role includes product management of a single product line with a regional/local focus. The role seeks to increase product line revenues and margin dollars by working collaboratively with all departments. The role will gain Product Management skills such as business development, commercial, and strategy development by working within the Product Line team.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities

1. Support creation of product line’s strategic direction and global product portfolio
2. Support the definition of the strategic direction of the portfolio
3. Support the roadmap planning for their product lines
4. Support idea generation through voice of the customer, analysis of market trends, and identification and profiling of competitors’ products and activities
5. Participate and drive projects through New Product Development (NPD) and Change Management (CMR) processes
6. Support NPD project and gate process
7. Support CMR projects to add necessary product enhancements to maintain growth
8. Support Marketing Communications team to develop sales tools, training, and materials
9. Lead the monitoring and tracking of new product launches
10. Lead development and refinement of departmental processes
11. Support G&W Electric’s Base Business
12. Focus on identified product line and market
13. Support forecast development for the product line by working with sales teams and sales enablement
14. Support Product Manager as a technical resource for sales teams working on customer applications and opportunities
15. Lead Product Management support for quotation opportunities
16. Develop and participate in large bid strategy and approvals
17. Participate in tradeshow and sales call support as needed
18. Lead cross-functional work to manage engineering, supply chain, quality, and operations issues
19. Support monitoring of win/loss data and support pricing adjustments to maintain competitiveness
20. Support product lifecycle management

Required Qualifications

1. BSEE or BSME
2. 2 years’ experience in a sales, application, or product engineering role preferred
3. Strong technical aptitude and comfortable with engineered to order products
4. Able to handle multiple tasks efficiently
5. Effective presentation skills to both internal and external customers
6. Good communication skills both written and oral
7. Driven to see their product line grow
8. Good problem-solving skills
9. Able to work effectively within a team cross-functionally
10. Good listener and adapts to their audience

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience in Power Distribution segment of the electrical industry

General Office Environment, PC use
Light Lifting (occasional 25 lbs or less)
