What You Will Do

The TetraScience Professional Services Data Science Engineer will report into the Professional Services Team. The purpose of this role is to help customers implement the Tetra Data Cloud by overcoming complex technical, business, and data challenges for new clients. As a Senior Data Engineer, you should be comfortable leading engagements, design sessions, and the creation of solutions for customers.

  • Work with the customer to understand business requirements, gathering insight to potential positive outcomes, recommending potential outcomes and building a solution based on consensus.
  • Coordinate project kickoff meetings with internal and external stakeholders, manage the customer relationship throughout the project, and conduct formal project closeout meetings.
  • Take ownership of building data models, prototype, and integration solutions that drive customer success.
  • Research and prototype data acquisition strategy for scientific lab instrumentation, prototype file parsers for instrument output files (.xlsx, .pdf, .txt, .raw, .fid, many other vendor binaries).
  • Design with quality backed by unit tests, integration tests, and utility functions.
  • Create visualization, report, and dashboards using Spotfire, Tableau, Jupyter notebook, and other tools.
  • Facilitate internal project post-mortems to identify areas of improvement on the next implementation.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of building solutions as a Software Engineer or Data Engineer.
  • 5+ years working in Python and SQL with a focus on Data Engineering and Data Management.
  • 4+ years of experience managing multiple customer-focused implementation projects across cross-functional teams, building sustainable processes and managing to the delivery milestones.
  • Excellent communications skills, attention to details, and the confidence to take control of project delivery.
  • Quickly understand a highly technical product and effectively communicate with product management and engineering.
  • Strong desire to work directly with customers with an intellectual curiosity to solve challenges posed by customer data.
  • Team player and ability to "roll up your sleeves" and do what it takes to make the team successful.
  • Ideal if you have experience with tools like Spotfire, Tableau, Jupyter notebook (any of them) and Elasticsearch, science background, or experience with scientific instruments.
