Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Assistant (PA) to join our General Surgery team. As a key member of our surgical healthcare professionals, you will work closely with surgeons to provide comprehensive patient care throughout the surgical process. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality healthcare in a dynamic and challenging environment.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Surgical Assistance:

   - Assist surgeons in various general surgery procedures, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases.

   - Prepare patients for surgery, ensuring proper consent and pre-operative assessments.

   - Handle surgical instruments and equipment, maintaining a sterile environment.

 

Patient Evaluation and Management:

   - Conduct patient assessments, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, and diagnostic test interpretation.

   - Collaborate with the surgical team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.

   - Manage pre-operative and post-operative care, addressing patient needs and concerns.

 

Post-Operative Care:

   - Monitor patients in the post-operative period, assessing vital signs and managing pain and complications.

   - Provide patient education on post-operative care, medication management, and potential complications.

   - Assist in coordinating follow-up care and appointments.

 

Collaboration and Communication:

   - Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.

   - Communicate effectively with patients and their families, addressing questions and providing information about surgical procedures and recovery.

 

Documentation:

   - Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including surgical notes, progress reports, and treatment plans.

   - Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational documentation standards.

 

Emergency Response:

   - Respond promptly to emergency situations in the surgical setting, demonstrating proficiency in life-saving interventions.

   - Participate in drills and training to enhance emergency preparedness.

Requirements:

PA - Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program, minimum Bachelor’s degree required

 

Certification:

Physician Assistant Certified (PA-C) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification (ACNP)

BLS/ACLS/AED training required and accepted from only 1 organization

American Heart Association or American Red Cross - BLS/ACLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program

No online programs from any organization will be accepted.

DEA registration required for those with discharge responsibilities. 

Posted Salary Range:
USD $66.55 - USD $90.00 /Hr.
