The position will play a critical role in supporting our attorneys with complex litigation defense matters, drawing upon your expertise in insurance defense and appellate law. This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled paralegal to contribute to high-profile cases and work alongside some of the best legal minds in Houston.


Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on relevant case law, statutes, and regulations, with a focus on complex litigation defense and appellate procedures.
  • Draft and finalize sophisticated legal pleadings, motions, discovery requests, briefs, and other litigation documents.
  • Assist attorneys with all aspects of trial and appellate preparation, including witness interviews, deposition summaries, preparing exhibits, and legal memoranda.
  • Organize and maintain case files electronically and in hard copy, ensuring exceptional attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel in a professional and confident manner.
  • Manage deadlines and maintain a high level of accuracy in all work performed.


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in complex litigation defense, insurance defense, and/or appellate law.
  • Proven track record of success in legal research, writing, and case management.
  • In-depth understanding of civil litigation procedures, the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, and appellate rules.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with legal research databases and eDiscovery software (Relativity a plus).
  • Excellent organizational skills, with a meticulous eye for detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and client service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, while also collaborating effectively with attorneys and other team members.
