Position Overview:

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial ground-up projects. Your role will involve analyzing project plans and specifications, soliciting and evaluating bids from subcontractors and suppliers, and providing detailed cost analyses to support project planning and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation: Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for commercial ground-up projects by analyzing project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents. Develop detailed cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor work.
  • Bid Analysis: Solicit and review bids from subcontractors and suppliers. Evaluate and compare bids to ensure competitiveness and accuracy. Prepare bid proposals and recommendations for project management.
  • Budget Development: Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring that estimates are accurate and reflect current market conditions and project requirements.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to understand project requirements and incorporate changes into estimates. Ensure all cost estimates align with project scope and objectives.
  • Cost Control: Monitor and analyze project costs throughout the construction phase. Provide recommendations for cost-saving measures and assist in managing any budget discrepancies.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all estimating activities, including bid documents, cost estimates, and correspondence. Prepare detailed reports and presentations for review by project stakeholders.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, material costs, and construction techniques. Utilize this knowledge to provide accurate and up-to-date cost estimates.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Estimator in commercial construction, with a proven track record of preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for ground-up projects.
  • Sector Knowledge: Experience in estimating for various project types including Office, Medical, K-12, Retail, and Restaurant is highly beneficial.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills. Proficiency in estimating software and tools. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., CMAA, AACE) are a plus.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in preparing estimates and analyzing cost data.
