Are you ready for a hands-on role that makes a real difference? Join Search, Inc. as a Maintenance Professional and help maintain safe, functional spaces for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You'll be performing essential repairs, cleaning, landscaping, snow removal, and more at various residences, day service locations, and offices.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM with flexibility based on program needs + On-call 1 weekend a month

Location: Varies (Chicago, Evanston, Skokie, Morton Grove, Mount Prospect)

Pay: $22/HR

About the Role: The Maintenance Professional performs a range of maintenance duties at the residences, day service locations, and offices that are owned and operated by Search, Inc. in Chicago, Skokie, Morton Grove, Skokie, and Mount Prospect. This includes, but is not limited to, minor repairs, construction and installations, cleaning, painting, landscaping, snow removal, and other emergency tasks, assisting technicians and tradespeople, and collaborating with the physical plant team. This role supports the health and well-being of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, by helping to maintain safe and functional environments.

The Maintenance Professional position reports directly to the Physical Plant Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Mission Statement and agency values of Search.
  • Demonstrate kindness, courtesy, flexibility, responsiveness, and consistency in meeting physical plant needs.
  • Present yourself in a professional manner as a representative of Search to coworkers, family members, guardians, community members, and representatives from affiliated agencies.
  • Maintain and monitor all agency physical plant facilities for the good repair of all structural, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
  • Maintain all equipment in good working order and monitor supplies of materials necessary to maintain physical plant environments.
  • Maintain assigned work sites according to Search standards for good repair, cleanliness, order, and safety.
  • Complete new or unexpected basic repairs and maintenance when at sites for unrelated assignments.
  • Follow established safety procedures in the handling and use of equipment and hazardous materials, including the proper use of protective clothing and equipment.
  • Complete assigned duties in a time-efficient manner in the absence of direct supervision.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor regarding status of assigned tasks, material supplies, and general site needs.
  • Participate in training sessions and meetings.
  • Complete service reports and necessary documentation.
  • Support Physical Plant team in the development and completion of all aspects of remodeling projects as assigned.
  • Participate in materials and equipment procurement and documentation.
  • Participate in snow removal per an established snow removal plan.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
