Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Patent Attorney with over 3 years of experience in patent prosecution, both in the U.S. and internationally. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and demonstrate expertise in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in diverse technological fields. This role requires in-depth knowledge of patent laws, excellent drafting skills, and the ability to work with inventors and other team members to ensure comprehensive intellectual property protection.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Draft, file, and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications, with a focus on mechanical and/or electrical technologies.
  2. Conduct patentability searches and provide detailed legal opinions regarding the patentability of inventions.
  3. Assist in the management and development of IP portfolios for clients across various industries.
  4. Advise clients on the development and protection of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets.
  5. Work closely with inventors, engineers, and business leaders to understand and protect technological innovations.
  6. Handle post-grant procedures, oppositions, appeals, and patent enforcement activities when necessary.
  7. Stay current with patent laws, USPTO guidelines, and international patent office practices.

Qualifications:

  1. Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  2. Active registration with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  3. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  4. A minimum of 3 years of patent prosecution experience, including U.S. and foreign patent applications.
  5. Strong understanding of U.S. and international patent systems, including PCT filings.
  6. Exceptional legal research, writing, and communication skills.
  7. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  8. Experience working with clients from various technical backgrounds is highly desirable.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Experience in patent litigation or patent portfolio management is a plus.
  2. Proficiency in a foreign language (e.g., Japanese, German, Mandarin) for international patent work is an advantage.
