School Superintendent

The Board of Education of the Walton Central School District announces a vacancy for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The successful candidate will:

1. Be approachable and able to communicate with people from all walks of life with honesty, integrity, and sincerity;
2. Exhibit good judgment, is patient in dealing with others, and has shown evidence of stability and integrity under pressure;
3. Have genuine concern for children as demonstrated by listening, being visible and known to them, and involvement in their education and activities;
4. Have a leadership style that is built upon trust, integrity, enthusiasm, compassion, courtesy, common sense, attention to detail, and strong moral and ethical values;
5. Have an ability to engage and involve parents, community, staff, and students in the educational improvement process;
6. Have a reputation for honesty, integrity, knowledge of public school administration, leadership, and good character.

Mr. Michael Rullo, District Superintendent of the Sole Supervisory District of Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego Counties, will assist the Walton Central School District Board of Education in the selection process. The Board anticipates completing first round interviews December 2-13, 2024, final interviews January 6-17, 2025, and appointing the successful candidate in February. The new Superintendent is expected to begin employment on July 1, 2025, or a mutually acceptable date.
