Job SummaryThis position requires an engineer with significant experience in the environmental and solid waste industry. The ideal candidate will possess superior problem solving and management skills that will be applied to a diverse portfolio of technical projects. You will be directly responsible for developing Green House Gas (GHG) strategies for WM landfills located across the country. Will communicate with senior management, and direct/ mentor junior staff. You will be continually challenged to use your knowledge and skills to advance WM's GHG admissions goals and objectives.II. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:•Utilize the GHG SPT to assist Area teams in evaluating potential scenarios and planning for GHG reduction initiatives.•Serve as a liaison between Area GHG Emission Reduction Strategies and WM Disposal Operations, ensuring effective communication and alignment with company-wide GHG reduction goals.•Be a “boots on the ground” resource for the implementation of Area-specific GHG emission reduction strategies and changes in those strategies over time, providing support as needed.•Facilitate updates and discussions with Area teams to review progress, address emerging issues, and ensure continuous improvement in GHG reduction initiatives.•Oversee the monthly tracking and reporting of GHG reduction projects, ensuring alignment with planned budgets.•Monitor and compare actual implementation schedules against planned targets, providing insights into project effectiveness and its contribution to achieving GHG reduction goals.•Support the rollout of WM’s GHG Quarterly Reporting Program starting in Q1 2025, including the development of GHG infrastructure documentation.•Assist in corporate reviews of the Quarterly GHG Emissions Reporting as it pertains to the SWICS model.•Identify and assess risks associated with GHG reduction project implementation.•Highlight opportunities for GHG reductions and operational improvements, including potential benefits for operational expenditure (OPEX) and overall project performance.III. Supervisory ResponsibilitiesFunctioning as the team lead on various projects is inherent to the position.IV. Education and ExperienceEducation: Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field of study.Experience: Five (5) plus years of related experience in Green House Gas (GHG), Landfill / Disposal (in addition to education requirements).B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other RequirementsValid Driver's License required.C.
