Chipton-Ross is seeking a System Safety Engineer 3 for a contract opportunity in Northridge, CA.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Activities include system safety analysis of military weapon systems, participation in risk assessments/resolution and mishap investigations. The ideal candidate will have experience with MIL-STD-882E and familiarity with Military and their equivalent industry standards such as MIL-STD-882, RCC 319, AFSPCMAN 91-710, ASTM, ANSI, NEC, AFOSH, AOP-52, JOTP-051, PESHE and NFPA.


REQUIREMENTS:

  1. BS in Electrical Engineering or relevant degree with 9 years of relevant/related experience or a MS in Electrical Engineering or relevant degree with 7 years of relevant/related experience.
  2. Demonstrated ability in the application of MIL-STD-882E to analyze, recommend, and drive safety into system design, equipment and procedures in order to mitigate or eliminate hazards.
  3. Experience documenting hazards with a closed-loop Hazard Tracking System (HTS).
  4. Familiarity with electrical circuit design.
  5. Demonstrated ability to apply system safety engineering principles to develop safety documentation in accordance with MIL-STD-882E such as SSPP, PHA, FHA, SHA/SuSHA, Bent Pin Analyses, FTA, SAR and Software Safety Analyses.
  6. Demonstrated ability to develop, review, update, and approve system safety artifacts and system safety requirements.
  7. History of demonstrated leadership capabilities, ability to work independently, and effectively communicate (verbal and written) with internal and external customers.

PREFERRED:

  1. Ability to read and interpret electrical circuit schematics.
  2. Experience with implementing and testing software safety requirements.
  3. Have experience in the design of missile systems.
  4. Strong working knowledge of military system safety and process standards and their Industry equivalent such as MIL-STD-882, RCC 319, AFSPCMAN 91-710, ASTM, ANSI, NEC, AFOSH, AOP-52, JOTP-051, PESHE, NFPA.
  5. Knowledge of System Safety Incident Investigation process.

EDUCATION:

BS in Electrical Engineering or a relevant degree is required. School must be accredited.


HOURS:

9/80 workweek. 100% Onsite.
