About the Job:
The Divisional CFO is responsible for overall fiscal management of the facilities within the division, provides the financial and operational decision-making necessary for the realization of the Division's strategic, financial, and operational goals. Directs the analysis, interpretation and reporting of financial information of the Division and all related activities; supports the completion of strategic plans and budgets; evaluates alternative courses of action and ensures that the revenue cycle operations are performed at a high level.
Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that monthly financial statements for the Division are completed timely and accurately.
  • Routinely visits assigned facilities to review financial operations and provide Facility leadership and Division President with feedback and guidance.
  • Provides the Division President and other Corporate staff requested information related to the Division's financial operations.
  • Oversees the preparation of the monthly forecast, ensuring accuracy and validity.
  • Assists in the preparation of corporate and divisional required reports (including the Monthly Operating Report, Forecasts) timely and accurately.
  • Provides financial expertise in planning new services including preparation of pro-formas.
  • Works with facilities to ensure all accounting and business office policies and required internal controls are in place to facilitate a clean audit with no material audit adjustments or deficiencies found. Ensures that all approval processes are in place.
  • Participates in the Monthly Operating Reviews with Summit Senior Management and provides explanations and insight for each facility assigned.
  • Works with the Director of the CBO to direct the operations of the Revenue Cycle to ensure that accounts receivable are collected timely and uncompensated care is kept to a minimum.
  • Ensures Front End Revenue Cycle processes are in place including VOBs, Financial Counseling and all other financial documentation is completed.
  • Maintains a thorough working knowledge of federal, state and managed care reimbursement methodologies to ensure that facility is paid accurately, and revenue deductions are recorded accurately. Facilitates preparation of any required cost reports.
  • Ensures compliance with Group Purchasing contract and monitors purchases to ensure supply costs are kept to budgeted levels.
  • Prepares annual operating budget and participates in the annual strategic planning process which serves as a basis for the budget. Provides ongoing analysis of variances from budget and assists the CEO in implementing changes needed to achieve budget goals. Helps ensure assets and related depreciation is recorded accurately and in compliance with company policies.
  • Provides financial leadership and guidance to Division Vice President and facility CEOs.
  • Provides ongoing analysis of variances from budget and assists the CEOs and the Division Vice President in implementing changes needed to achieve budget goals.
  • Reviews managed care contracting and other business development activities to ensure net revenue maximization. The Division CFO is responsible for evaluating the feasibility of being in-network with primary payors, negotiating rate increases, and maintaining relationships with key provider personnel.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of healthcare industry trends and changes and ensures facility is prepared and compliant.
  • Provides guidance and assists the Division Vice President and facility CEOs in ensuring facility is staffed appropriately and that productivity goals are met.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or business-related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least seven years' progressive successful CFO experience in a healthcare setting required.
Licenses/Designations/Certifications:
  • CPA is a plus.
Supervisory Requirements:
  • Seven or more years of management experience in a healthcare setting required.
