How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region:
The Transit Service Center Representative (TSC) sells and replaces fare tools and various promotional items to customers, gives routing information and assist in problem solving for transportation issues. The TSC Representative prepares detailed reports and bank deposits for all sales transactions. They make it easy for customers to pay their fares and treat those funds with respect.
This position may be required to travel between the Downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul retail store locations.
Salary range: External hires start at step one or a pay rate of $23.78 per hour. Internal hires will follow ATU wage guidelines.
Candidate pool: This position will establish a six-month eligible list for current and future positions.

What you would do in this job
- Sell Metro Transit fare items to customers, helps customers determine the best type of fare product for their needs, and collects proper payment for sale; Sell and process Transit fare orders for all customers upon request; Troubleshoot customer issues with fare cards and media; Help identify the best fare and transit option for individual and groups of customers in person, over the phone and electronically.
- Accurately prepare and reconcile daily bank deposits, balance sheets, electronic fares and ticket inventory records in accordance with the policies and procedures established in the sales operations manual; maintains a secure area; Accurately collect and record sales and payment method; Prepare reports on daily sales and customer service activities; Adheres to procedures posted in the sales operations manual.
- Assist customers with detailed route information and transportation questions or solutions; Use technology to identify best option; Instruct customers on how to use internet and smartphones for self-service.
- Help customers with transit issues by referring them to the best resource based on the information received; Receive lost and found items from Customer Service for customer pick up; Reference Cubic's NCS for troubleshooting Go-To card questions. Provides information on transportation options; Assist with returning lost and found items to customers.
- Collect payments for fare evasion citations.
- Stock transit schedule racks with up-to-date schedules; Order route schedules and transit information from various resources; Maintain an orderly environment; Provide instruction to customers on how to access electronic schedules; Keep up to date on route changes and rider alerts to inform customers of changes.
- Maintain an organized and clean transit store appearance; Keep workstation clean and organized.
- Assist with Metropass and other fare-card media production processes.
- Perform assigned duties in the sales operations department when not needed at stores.
- May be required to travel to various transit stores to maintain proper levels of service.
- Process Limited Mobility applications.
- Performs other related duties.
