Compensation:

  1. Manager Duties: $22 /hr (8-16 hrs/week)
  2. Barista Shifts: $17 /hr (3-4 days/week) + average hourly tips of $10

Overview:

The store manager is a key member of the Heritage Bicycles and Coffee team. This role not only executes our warm, friendly service experience but also creates the hand-crafted drinks that our customers have grown to love. This is a great position for someone who enjoys taking care of others, is passionate about coffee, and works well on a team. This role will act as the onsite leader at the General Store location: the “go-to” person with knowledge of day-to-day operations, specifics of equipment, and insider knowledge of the business. They will coordinate/facilitate operational demands and communicate all operational needs with senior leadership.

Job Responsibilities:

Customer Service & Barista Duties:

  1. Act as the lead by setting the example of barista standards.
  2. Serve as the main point of contact for guests, both through online and in-person orders.
  3. Provide exceptional customer service, maintaining a positive attitude with guests and fellow staff.
  4. Prepare hot and cold drinks according to recipes, modifying based on guest needs.
  5. Maintain a clean and tidy work area while following all city and state health guidelines.
  6. Assist in maintaining health code standards by leading cleaning efforts and training teammates on proper procedures.
  7. Solve guest issues, escalating to senior leadership if needed.
  8. Stay calm, organized, and clean, even on high-volume days.
  9. Collaborate with teammates during each shift and ensure smooth transitions between shifts.
  10. Use POS and technology to process transactions securely.
  11. Monitor coffee quality and perform quality checks each shift.

Manager Duties:

  1. Track store operational needs and implement changes to meet those needs.
  2. Address staff needs and concerns, documenting and escalating issues to senior leadership.
  3. Ensure effective communication between shops, staff, and senior leadership.
  4. Keep shop morale positive and inviting, conducting regular check-ins with staff.
  5. Train teammates on new recipes and drinks; manage drink inventory and costing.
  6. Follow up on performance issues with clear documentation and escalate as necessary.
  7. Participate in group leadership meetings and additional non-weekly meetings.
  8. Be “on call” for last-minute shop-related issues.
  9. Supervise the onboarding and training of new employees.
  10. Coordinate with bike room staff and assist with troubleshooting as needed.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  1. Complete weekly inventory and adjust pastry par counts.
  2. Place orders for supplies within budget and provide order details to senior leadership.
  3. Manage equipment maintenance and repairs, reporting needs to senior leadership.
  4. Communicate with the Chef to assess inventory and ordering needs.
  5. Collect availability and time-off requests and create consistent schedules.
  6. Process payroll and tips bi-weekly through Homebase, ensuring timely completion.
  7. Oversee Google Business/Facebook/Square profiles and respond to customer inquiries.
  8. Hire, train, and maintain staff in collaboration with senior management.
  9. Ensure all staff have up-to-date ServSafe food handler certificates and maintain records.
  10. Plan and execute community and private events.
  11. Assist with online orders in the bike room.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Inventory management and coffee ordering from various wholesale accounts.
  2. Kitchen ordering in coordination with lead line cook/kitchen staff.
  3. Scheduling for coffee, kitchen, and bike side, ensuring timely release and accommodation of requests.
  4. Training barista staff for opening, mid, and closing shifts, including dialing in espresso, milk-steaming, and latte art.
  5. Coordinating with all cafe departments to meet operational needs.
  6. Assisting with regular cafe events throughout the year.
  7. Working three bar shifts per week to set the standard for customer service and execution during rushes.
  8. Quickly resolving customer complaints with the cafe and/or kitchen.
  9. Fostering a safe and welcoming environment for patrons and staff, ensuring a high-level customer service experience.
  10. Working closely with the owner and other leadership in the company.
