The EC2 Enterprise Foundation organization is responsible for tackling tough problems faced by enterprise customers via cloud-based solutions. The team uses cutting-edge technologies to develop large-scale platforms to help customers optimally run their business.
We are hiring experienced Software Development Engineers to make Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) the best place to run enterprise class workloads. As part of our team you will help build next generation services that simplify how our customers and partners configure and manage high performance computing workloads on the cloud. You will closely work with various pre-release Amazon technologies and build services that handle large scale, highly available distributed systems.

- Be very hands-on and part of engineering team's day-to-day developer activities.
- Ability to dive deep on complex application setup issues, and root cause them.
- Communicating with customers, technical teams and defining technical strategy.
- Maintain current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology, curiosity to look out for new technologies and work with management and development team in bringing new technologies.
- Improve the CI/CD process across multiple services/pipelines and across multiple complex enterprise products.
- Work with developers, product teams, and other functions to design best performant on-instance system software and back-end service as well as relentlessly assure the highest quality bar.
A Day in the Life
As a software development engineer, your life will be very much similar to other software developers in the same team and daily tasks may include the following:
- Participate regularly in stand-ups and team meetings.
- Review design docs, code changes from team peers.
- Design, implement, and validate the new system software, solution, or service.
- Improve existing automation processes.
- Go through backlogs regularly and participate in on-call rotation.
- Have fun and learn new technologies, system tools, development methodologies, and share your knowledge.

About the Team
The EC2 Windows EAST (Enterprise Applications & Services Team) team supports the instance launch experience for EC2 Windows customers. We own all aspects of instance initialization and bootstrapping. We continue to raise the bar for functionality and performance of launch related activities.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
