Position Summary
The Buyer is responsible for the process of procuring chemical materials for the Design and Battey Lab Departments at Warren Technical Center. This position is responsible
for maintenance, administration, and upkeep of supplier and product data in the MAS (ERP system).
Responsibilities/Duties:
• Completing month end for the site
• Procuring chemical materials for the Design and Battery Lab Departments
through Sage
• Creates purchase orders in MAS based on customer requests or requirements
and sends purchase orders to appropriate supplier.
• Follow up with suppliers to confirm receipt of purchase order and assure required
delivery dates can be met, and any delays are communicated to the customer in a
timely manner.
• Process material receipts and sales of chemical materials for Design and Battery
Departments daily.
• Complete customer invoices, accounts payable, account reconciliation, and
monitor inventory levels as required.
• Updating GMR2 data for Design and Battery Departments by the 7
th of each
month
• Participating in safety observation tours (SOTs) as requested by the customer.
• Assists in identification of alternate materials and suppliers for contingency
situations
• Continually develop cost savings opportunities. (Alternative Products, Process
Improvements, Suppliers etc.)
• Tracks order progress to receipt of goods at customer location.
• Interacts with customers and on-site personnel on delivery, quality or any other
issues on purchase order.
• Establishes and continually manages effective supplier relations.
• Completes physical inventories (where applicable) and conducts material
planning based on customer needs.
• Performs other duties and special projects as required
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Purchasing, or related field of study is
desired or a minimum of 1 year's related experience or an equivalent
combination of Education and Experience.
• Experience in Chemical Industry and familiarity with Chemical Supply Chain.
• Negotiation skills and experience working with large corporations.
• Ability to work with both technical and administrative personnel.
