Job Description

Are you passionate about training and education? Do you want to use your animal experience to develop creative trainings that support MSK's mission? The Research Animal Resource Center is looking for a talented Husbandry & Operations Training Specialist to join their team.

Role overview:

    Provide hands-on training to Animal Care Technicians related to husbandry and maintenance duties including animal handling, cage changing, and animal health checks.
  • Design, develop, and present educational material for all phases of routine maintenance and animal husbandry to support Animal Care Staff.
  • Work in partnership with other departments to develop and communicate policy/SOP changes and provide education on best practices.
  • Maintain records for all training in a digital Learning Management System.
  • Oversee the implementation of annual AALAS Certification Prep classes (ALAT and LAT).
  • Support quality control programs related to animal care to ensure proper practices are maintained.
  • Potential travel to regional facilities

Key Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience in laboratory research, training, and animal care.
  • Certification by AALAS at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) level
  • Ability to clearly present ideas and assess student proficiency.
  • Ability to quickly learn new programs and find innovative ways to train adult learners.
  • High-level of attention to detail and proficiency with scheduling and organization.

Core Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Comfortable speaking in front of large groups
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office - word, power point, outlook, excel

Hours: Monday to Friday 7AM to 3PM
